Welcome

"Lemon Light"   16 x 20 handpainted porcelain tile

The art of painting on porcelain dates back to ancient Chinese times.  The process is very much the same today.  Semi-translucent mineral paints are applied to fired porcelain (overglaze technique) and then these colors are fired again in a kiln.  These firings are in the range of 1400 degrees Fahrenheit.  The ending result being a permanent painting that will withstand exposure to light, heat and moisture.  All my pieces are fired multiple times thus building up layers of colors and intensity.  My main focus is animal and human portraiture although I do paint conventional style fruit,  florals as well as scenery.

Come and tour my website and see for yourself that china painting can definitely be more than just painting roses on tea cups.
