FAQ's

What types of dance do you teach?
We have three separate but complementary programs:
  • After-school fun and personal enrichment
  • Advanced levels with dance competitions and master     classes taught by renowned instructors
  • Foundation training for the pre-professional who seeks acceptance to study within a university dance program

How young can my beginner be?

We generally accept children
who are three-years-old as of
the following November 1st for classes which will begin
in August, 2010. They must be toilet-trained and have age-appropriate behavior and attention span.

How old?
College students who perform at the appropriate level
can audit and participate in our senior competition classes without the requirements of actually competing.
              Registration fee and tuition apply.

We're conveniently located for students of Lee University and
Cleveland State Community College, Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Dalton State College in Georgia, and The University
of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

What about transfer students?
We welcome students who are seeking a higher level and
different style of instruction than they currently receive. We
will discuss your needs and see if we are a good fit for you.
Class placement is by interview and skill evaluation by our Artistic Director.

Please apply early as it is not unusual for transfers to need
private instruction to bring them up to par.

How much does it cost?
There is a registration fee of $22.50 per student. Yearly tuition for one class per week is $525.00 which we can divide into ten monthly installments of $52.50 for your convenience.
Additional classes are discounted and we have Family Tuition Plans for siblings who reside in the same household. Late fees will apply.

Parents who make a one-time cash payment of the annual tuition
in full will receive a 5% discount on payments received no later
than the first day of classes in August 2010 (sorry, no discount with PayPal or credit cards).

What else does my child need?
Your child will require the appropriate shoes for each class (examples: leather ballet slippers or tan tap shoes, etc.), a classic leotard (pink or black), and tights as specified for her particular class. We can order these for you.

There
is a recital fee per child and a costume is required for every
class.
Costumes are ordered in Oct/Nov and must be paid in full
by that time - they range from $75 for our youngest dancers to
$125 or more for senior competition levels. When possible, we
choose combination costumes for our tiniest students in ballet/tap combo classes so parents don't have to buy more than one costume.

Other events, classes, photography sittings, CDPAC gear, and
T-shirts are available at additional costs but are optional. These
are the standard costs at all dance studios.

When can we register?
We will have several open registration days in late Spring and early Summer; the dates will be posted here.

When do classes start?
We will have Summer Intensives in June and July. The next full semester will begin in early August 2010.

We generally follow most breaks and holidays of the Cleveland
City Schools schedule (see our Events Calendar) and also adhere
to the Cleveland inclement weather and emergency closure
days.  Closures will be posted here and on our Facebook page.

May I choose the class day I prefer?
We try to make classes and times as convenient as possible for the most people so your first choice is not always possible. Multiple classes are not always on the same days.

May my child take only private instruction?
We have a very limited number of private class times
and they are allotted first to competition team members who compete as solos or duo/trios, then to regular class students, and, occasionally, to non-students. These are usually pageant contestants, Jr. Miss contestants, or students who need to sharpen or upgrade their skills before auditioning for school dance teams.
Current CDPAC students receive preferred tuition rates.

Auditioning for Middle and High School Dance Teams
We anticipate having a few openings in time to prepare for
middle and high school dance team tryouts.

Do you have classes for adults?
For fun and fitness, we offer classes with a Yoga Alliance-certified instructor plus we have two belly dance teachers. We are continually seeking additional types of classes which might interest our mature students.

Adult registration is ongoing; fees, tuition, and supplies differ.

Due to significant growth in enrollment in our classes for children and teens, we no longer teach ballroom classes; all of our privates are filled too. When spaces open, availability will be updated here.
